Riparian Work: Project/Portfolio Technical Description
I began taking these photographs in the Fall of 2001, and plan to continue photographing into the indeterminate future. I have at least several hundred rolls of developed 35mm film in this project, and have many frames in those rolls that I have yet to discover as satisfying images.

The vast majority of these photographs were exposed on either the north or south bank of the Pojoaque River in an area beginning about a half mile east of the County 101D bridge in El Rancho, a small farming community about 20 miles northwest of Santa Fe, New Mexico. This area extends perhaps a further 2000 yards east from that point. The vast majority of these photographs that were exposed in that location, are from an even smaller area of less than 1000 yards from west to east.

The other areas photographed in this portfolio are taken probably no further than one or two miles from this area. There is no particular reason that I have worked these areas, except for their proximity, density of vegetation and availability of light.

The photographs generated are of two types: singular images and diptychs. All prints are made from 35mm color negatives scanned into a Macintosh computer, corrected in Adobe Photoshop, and printed on archival standard Epson Enhanced Matte Paper using archival standard Epson Ultrachrome Inks. Photoshop corrective techniques employed are analogous to those employed in a traditional chemical darkroom equipped with an enlarger.

The singular images are printed in three sizes: the smallest image size is approximately 10x15”, the medium approximately 14x21 inch paper, the largest approximately on 19x28 paper. Not all of the singular images are available in all of these sizes. The diptychs are thus far printed only in the comparable medium size of approximately 14x43 inches; larger prints are planned.

All of my Epson prints are produced in editions of 12 numbered prints with 5 artist proofs in each size that is offered.
